A business can send us a statement, and we will publish it if it is signed, if it can be traced to a public source, and if it is labelled as having come from that business. That is the whole transaction, and it is free. Contributed material never merges with the text we write, it never becomes a rating, and it never buys a listing status: those three separations are the reason a contributed statement is worth reading at all.
Can a factory or a dealer write its own page here?
Not yet, and never without a label. Contributed material is accepted only when it is signed by a named entity, limited to statements that can be traced to a public source, and shown as contributed on the page itself, in a separate block from anything written by us. Contributed does not mean claimed, and it does not mean verified.
Does it cost anything to contribute?
No, and it never will. Contributed material is free, on the same terms for every business including any connected to the operator of this site. If a contribution is ever refused, it is refused for the content of the claim rather than for the absence of a payment.
What gets rejected?
Superlatives with no measurement behind them ("best", "highest quality", "1:1 perfection"), claims about a competitor's wrongdoing without evidence, review solicitation, and anything asking us to rank or to remove a documented fact. A contribution is not a channel for advertising; advertising has its own page and its own rules.
How is contributed material labelled?
In a block that states who supplied it, that it was reviewed for sourcing rather than for the accuracy of any opinion in it, and the date it was received. It sits on the same page as our own text but never merges with it, and it cannot be used to replace our own wording.
What should a submission contain?
| Field | Required | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Entity name and a verifiable contact | Yes | An unsigned statement cannot be attributed, and an unattributable statement is not worth publishing |
| The claim, in one or two sentences | Yes | So it can be shown next to whatever we already publish on the same subject |
| Where the claim can be checked | Yes | A public page, a dated photograph, a test result. "It is well known" is not a source |
| Which page it concerns | Yes | Contributed material is attached to a subject, not posted as free advertising |
| Marketing language | No — it is removed | A statement about a measurement we can publish; a slogan we cannot |
What is the difference between contributing, claiming and verifying?
Three different things, kept apart by design. A contribution is a signed statement published as attributed material. A claim is a business taking control of its own listing: a technical step, done by adding a DNS record, and it changes nothing about what the listing says. Verification, in the sense of vouching for a business's honesty or quality, does not exist here at all: there is no status on this site that means we endorse anyone.
