Complaints and corrections

This applies to anything on the site, including the pages we write ourselves. A business, a buyer or a rights holder can all use it; the standard is the same for everyone.

Two outcomes are possible: a page is corrected when the source was wrong, or the dispute is published next to the claim when the source stands but the claim is contested. What does not happen is silent deletion of a documented fact. Disputes are recorded with the complainant's own words and, in the same block and the same style, the reply of whoever the complaint is about, including when that reply never arrives. This site does not arbitrate transactions and cannot recover money; it keeps a record, which is a different thing and should not be mistaken for one.

How do I report something wrong on this site?

Send the page address, what is wrong with it, and whatever supports your position: a dated link, a screenshot of an order, a thread. If the page is about you or your business, say so. Complaints are handled on the evidence, not on who is asking, and a correction that we cannot support with a source will be published as a dispute rather than silently made.

Will you remove a page because a business asks you to?

Not on request alone. A documented fact stays, and if it is contested the contest is published next to it. What does get removed is material we cannot source, and product-level content in response to a rights-holder request; see the removal rule below.

Can you get my money back from a seller?

No. This site does not sell anything, holds no funds and takes no part in any transaction, so it cannot recover money. It can publish what happened, in the complainant's own words and with the seller's reply in the same block, which is what a record is for.

Do businesses get a right of reply?

Yes, and it is structural rather than a favour: when a dispute is recorded on a listing, the space for the reply is created alongside the complaint, in the same style and with the same length limit. A dispute with no reply published still shows that a reply was invited and not received.

What happens to a dispute once it is recorded?

What we need from a complaint

How long does it take?

We aim to answer within a week. When that is not possible, the page says so rather than leaving the complaint pending invisibly: the point of recording a dispute is that the record itself is visible, not that it is resolved.
